They fly naked here...
Has been a hot day! Not the best soaring weather though, I think longest flight was to Banbury and back flown by E5 DG300 with winglets. His first flight he stayed up for 4 minutes and then he took the aerotow and off he went. Banbury flight took 2 hrs 15min.
I flew 3 flights with the Bicester Chairman, we had problems staying up! Even he could not find proper lift! We were airborne 6, 10 and 15 minutes. He said that he may fly with me later on, but the CFI turned up the same time and he said that he will just fly with the BGA chap in a motor glider and then he will fly with me. I wanted spinning, at least one more spin done by me. So I went off to get some cold water while waiting and then he turned up and the bugger had forgotten all about me and instead had a beer with the BGA chap!!! By then the Chairman had gone to have a beer, too! So I got stood up by 2 instructors today! The Chairman also said that I am in a solo stage. Yippee....
With the Chairman I learned that the glider I flew today has got the winching speed 53-58! I thought that the best is 60 in all K13 gliders, nobody has raised any issue about it before and I have flown that glider before! One learns different things from different instructors. Some say big NO to have the airbreaks out while turning to finals and some say the opposite!
I am making lamb stew and sitting in a bar and sosialising and time to time trying to remember to go and have a look at the stew.
Today at the launch point I heard that some club members have flown naked! Hopefully that will not be the uniform for the 50km! I nearly said that where I come from we did not do such things! One must have some standards!!! And in the event of landing out, what would one say to the farmer? I come from the Nudist Gliding Club?
Yesterday the CFI showed me the boundaries of the Hinton-on-the-Hedge.
Been learning things today. More tomorrow, hopefully. And I shall not fly naked! But there again... one should always try to break boundaries... so... and as one is nearing the big 60 years of age (still many years ahead, mind you) one should remember that the decade between 60 and 70 is the last decade to do all the things what one wants to do during ones life time. And that decade should be the best. Reason being one should be in a good health and mind still to make a difference. After that 70-80 -decade is a slow slowing down period towards the death.
