MY BICESTER GLIDING AND FLYING BLOG

There were supposed to be the Old Flying Machine's Company's Spitfire and Hurricane here today for doing the Douglas Bader filming. But no luck, the weather has not been good enough, too low cloud base. Lots of people here just waiting the whole day to see the old birds. By the way, some years ago I had the chance to sit in that Spit for 10 minutes at Duxford green grass where it was parked! Must say, I was dreaming to be an ATA pilot during the War and doing my checks and taxing to the runway and taking off... my dream got erupted when the the mechanic told me to wiggle the rudders...

Breaking news!!! I WAS JUST TOLD THAT THE SPITFIRE WILL BE HERE AT 2PM, SO I AM GOING OUT WITH THE CAMERA...

The Old Flying Machine Company's Spitfire. Many
years ago I sat in it for 10min at Duxford!!!

... I am back! It is 8pm and the filming stopped an hour ago. The Spit went away, but the Hurricane seems to be staying, got re fuelled just few minutes ago. It was fabulous watching those two old birds to fly. The flights were long ones and around the airfield.Paul Bonhamme flew the Spit, I don´t know who flew the Hurricane, will let you know later. Also I will add photos later on.

Looks like no gliding tomorrow either.

  1. So "cosy" little home you have. But in spite of it, I know you like the life in Bicester.
